The Work Doesn’t Do Itself
Corruption Watch – TX runs lean by design. We don’t have a downtown office or a corporate parent. What we have is a network of people across this state who believe that honest government doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because someone forces it to.
That someone can be you.
Independent watchdog journalism depends on people willing to give their time, skills, and energy to something larger than themselves. Here’s what we need right now:
Researchers
Can you dig through property records, corporate filings, campaign finance data, or court documents? We need people who are comfortable with public databases and know how to build a factual picture from scattered records.
Writers and Editors
If you can write clearly, think critically, and hold yourself to a high standard of accuracy, we want to hear from you. Experience in journalism is a plus, but it’s not required. Commitment to getting it right is.
FOIA Filers
Requests filed under the Texas Public Information Act are one of our primary investigative tools. We need volunteers who are willing to submit, track, and follow up on records requests — and escalate when agencies stonewall.
Social Media and Outreach
Our reporting only matters if people see it. We need help distributing stories, growing our audience, and building relationships with other accountability-focused organizations in Texas.
Translators
Texas is a multilingual state. Accountability journalism should be too. If you are fluent in Spanish or another language spoken widely in your community, we’d like to talk.
Tipsters
You don’t need any special skill. If you see something inside a government agency, a contractor, a law enforcement department, or a public institution that looks wrong — tell us. That’s where most of our work begins.
Get Involved
We ask for no long-term commitment up front. Tell us who you are and what you can do, and we’ll go from there. Every investigation you help produce puts pressure on people who have spent years operating without it.
This is your state. Help us hold it accountable.
