Who We Are
Corruption Watch – TX is an independent, nonpartisan watchdog journalism outlet focused on the institutions that shape everyday life in Texas: city halls, county courthouses, law enforcement agencies, school districts, and the state bodies that oversee them. We exist because the people who hold power in Texas count on one thing above all else — that no one is paying attention.
We are paying attention.
Why We Exist
Local investigative journalism in Texas is in crisis. Dozens of newspapers have shrunk or closed in the past decade. City council meetings go unreported. Public budgets go unscrutinized. Contracts worth millions of dollars are awarded with no coverage, no questions, and no accountability. The result is a vacuum that officials have learned to exploit. Funds go missing. Deals get made in back rooms. Misconduct gets buried in procedures and paperwork.
Corruption Watch – TX was built to fill that vacuum — not to score political points, but to do the unglamorous, time-consuming work of records requests, source development, document review, and on-the-record reporting that power depends on avoiding.
Who Is Behind This
We are a team of concerned Texas citizens, journalists, and researchers who have spent years watching public institutions fail the people they were built to serve. Some of us have backgrounds in investigative reporting. Some have worked inside government and know exactly where the bodies are buried. Some are simply residents who got tired of being lied to and decided to do something about it.
We do not disclose individual identities in order to protect our contributors and sources. Our work speaks for itself.
